There was once a study in Israeli that 70% of abused children have at least one flaw with their appearance. To reduce the bias of this theory, McLean psychiatrist Dr. Igor Elman and postdoctoral student Rinah Yamamoto devised a study to explore that phenomenon more closely.
Elman and Yamamoto recruited 27 volunteers, 14 women and 13 men. Each were placed in front of a computer screen randomly showing 50 attractive and healthy babies 30 unattractive babies. The volunteers were told that each picutre would remain on the screen for 4 seconds. Yet they are allowed to lengthen or shorten the duration by clicking differnt keys.
The result was men were less likely to click off the unattractive babies, yet more likely to prolong the beautiful babies. Women conversly left the key alone with attracted babies, and were 2.5 times more likely to click-off unattractive babies.
So now, does you mommy and daddy love you uncondictionally because you're beautiful or...?
